Yogi Berra Quotes - here is a sample selection of some good ones, do you have a favorite and...?

-...why?

"Yogi" Berra is a former Major League Baseball player and manager. He played almost his entire career for the New York Yankees and was elected to the baseball Hall of Fame in 1972. Here are some of his famous quotes, do you have a favorite and why?

1. You can't think and hit at the same time

2. 90% of the game is half mental

3. It's never happened in the World Series history - and it hasn't happened since

4. Slump? I ain't in no slump. I just ain't hitting

5. You give 100% in the 1st half of the game and if that isn't enough in the 2nd half you give what's left

6. If people don't want to come to the ball park how are you going to stop them?

7. You better cut the pizza in 4 pieces. I'm not hungry enough to eat 8

8. I really didn't say everything I said

9. We're lost, but we're making great time!

10. If you come to a fork in the road, take it

11. I knew I was going to take the wrong train, so I left early

12. I knew exactly where it was, I just couldn't find itMy favorite isn't one of his short quips but a story I once heard him tell. It seems he was catching a game and Whitey Ford was pitching. Well the first batter up hit a line drive up the middle on the first pitch of the game. The next batter on the first pitch hit a long double in the power alley. On the next pitch the batter drove the ball out of the stadium for a home run. The manager quickly ran out to the mound to confer with Yogi and Whitey to see what was going on. The manager asked Yogi if he thought Whitey didn't have good stuff today. Yogi replied I don't know I haven't caught any of his pitches yet!My favrote is "This is like deja vu all over again" I tend to use it alot of the time when the situation calls for it.
whose quotations have permeated our language. "It ain't over until it's over" is a classic. As is "If you don't know where you are going, you will wind up somewhere else."

Some of my personal favorites:

Steve McQueen looks good in this movie. He must have made it before he died.

You can observe a lot just by watching.

Nobody goes there anymore; it's too crowded.

You should always go to other people's funerals; otherwise, they won't come to yours.

The story is that his wife asked him which city he would like to be buried in if he died first. To this he replied 'Surprise me.'

And the one I liked the best:

When asked "What time is it" Yogi's reply was "You mean right now?"
The one that everybody loved about 20 years ago, until we overused it so much we got sick of it, is:

"It's like deja vu all over again."

Another good one (although I disagree with the politics of it)

"If the world was perfect, it wouldn't be."

Also:

"In theory there is no difference between theory and practice. In practice there is. "

======================================鈥?br>

Also:

"It ain't over till it's over."

I think THAT's deep. Great advice about the folly of giving up.

Also,

If you come to a fork in the road, take it.

Now, that's not so deep. :-)
